What is the difference between "Resident" and "Commuter?"
A "Resident" is a student who stays on campus in the dorms during an Academy workshop.
A "Commuter" is a student who commutes each day from home during an Academy workshop.
What does the Resident fee include?
Tuition, room and board, and T—Shirt.
What does the Commuter fee include?
Tuition, lunch/dinner, and T—Shirt.

I paid a deposit when I registered. How and when do I pay the balance due?
Balance due amounts are to be paid during Check–In when you arrive at the Academy. Please be
aware that credit cards CANNOT be accepted at that time. If you wish to pay by credit card you will need to call
the DMA Office PRIOR to the student’s arrival. Our toll free number is (866) 653-7389.

I paid for my textbook, "The Dynamic Drum Major." When do I receive it?
Students will receive their purchased copy of "The Dynamic Drum Major" upon their arrival.

What kind of adult supervision is there?
The entire adult professional staff stay in the dorms with the students providing 24—hour supervision.

Is there a dress code?
Yes. Students should wear clothes that allow them to move easily during marching and conducting activities.A full T-shirt is required. Please refrain from wearing clothing that shows a bare midriff. Sneakers or boat shoes are suggested. Sandals or open toed shoes can be dangerous during marching. Shoes and shirts must be worn for reasons of safety, hygiene, and courtesy to others.

What is the schedule for a typical day at DMA?
A full day at a Drum Major Academy® Workshop begins at 8 AM and concludes at 10:30 PM. Breaks are taken for lunch and dinner.
Arrival times, final presentation and departure times are specific to each location — this information is included in the student Registration

Are there accommodations for food allergies or restrictions?
Yes. Please call the Drum Major Academy® Office at 866-653-7389 in order to make specific arrangements regarding food allergies and / or any food
restrictions you may have.

Are linens provided in the dorms?
No, each student must provide their own linens and bedding.
Extra—long twin sheets are the typical size for a university dormitory bed.

Are the dormitories air conditioned?
All dorms have A/C — except at UMASS.
We do, however, recommend that you consider bringing a fan. We are not in control of the AC and degrees of coolness in facilities vary location to location.

Is there "free time" available to the students for recreational activities?
No. This is an academic and educational workshop.

How much money should my student have with them?
There are vending machines located on all the campuses of where our Drum Major Academy® workshops are held. While students
enrolled do receive meals each day (3 meals for Residents and 2 meals for Commuters), many may wish to have a snack or drink during the day.
Ultimately we leave this decision to the parent.

How many students are in a dorm room and may I choose my roommate?
There are 2 students per dorm room at all of our locations. Housing assignments are made prior to your arrival.
Students will be housed with students from other schools in order to enhance the experience of meeting new friends and working with new people.
This is a firm Drum Major Academy® policy–housing assignments will not be changed. Please do not ask.
